Everything you need, start to finish.

Get started

What you need

Three things, and you are ready.

An iPhone or iPadAny model with Screen Mirroring. Nothing to install on it.
A computerAny Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later). Windows: our team is building it, with the same features.
A cable or Wi-FiA USB cable, or both on the same Wi-Fi (5 GHz is best).

Supported devices

What works, what runs at 120 Hz, and what does not.

MacAny Mac with Apple silicon (M1 and newer). Intel Macs are not supported.
WindowsComing soon. Our team is building and testing Kagami for Windows, with the same features as on Mac.
iPhone / iPadAny iPhone or iPad with Screen Mirroring (AirPlay). Nothing to install on the device. Latest iOS / iPadOS recommended.
ResolutionEach device’s own full screen resolution. Unknown or very old devices get 1080p.
Frame rate60 fps on all devices. Up to 120 Hz on ProMotion devices (list below).
ConnectionWired (USB cable) or wireless (same Wi-Fi network).
Devices with 120 Hz (ProMotion)
  • iPhone 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max
  • iPhone 14 Pro, 14 Pro Max
  • iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max
  • iPhone 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max
  • iPhone 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, iPhone Air

Wired vs wireless
Wired (USB)Wireless (Wi-Fi)
SetupPlug in, tap “Trust This Computer”, then Screen Mirroring → KagamiSame Wi-Fi, then Screen Mirroring → Kagami
StabilityBest: not affected by Wi-Fi trafficDepends on your Wi-Fi; 5 GHz / 6 GHz recommended
LatencyVery lowVery low: measured 0–40 ms, ~15 ms average
Battery in FPS counterYesNo
CableOriginal or MFi-certified, plugged straight into the Mac—
Not supported and known limits
  • Intel Macs (Kagami needs Apple silicon).
  • Android: not yet (planned).
  • One device at a time.
  • Running the iPhone’s own screen recording at the same time can make mirroring stutter.
  • Busy or 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, VPNs and Low Power Mode can add delay or stutter.

Install

A minute, start to finish.

Mac

  1. Download Kagami from the download page.
  2. Open the file and drag Kagami into Applications.
  3. Open Kagami. If macOS says it couldn’t verify it, click Done, then System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway.
  4. Allow Local Network (to find your iPhone) and Microphone if you record your voice.

Windows In development

  1. Download Kagami from the download page.
  2. Open KagamiSetup.exe.
  3. If you see “Windows protected your PC”, click More info → Run anyway, then Yes.
  4. Finish the setup. Kagami opens.
This one-time warning is normal for new independent apps. The download page shows every click.

Connect your iPhone or iPad

Pick wireless or wired.

Wireless

  1. Put your iPhone and computer on the same Wi-Fi.
  2. On the iPhone, open Control Centre → Screen Mirroring.
  3. Tap Kagami 鏡.

Wired (USB)

  1. Plug in the cable.
  2. Tap Trust This Computer if asked.
  3. Open Screen Mirroring and tap Kagami 鏡.
The first time a new device connects, Kagami asks Allow / Don’t Allow. Only allow your own devices.

Best settings

For the smoothest picture with the least delay.

On your iPhone

  • Low Power Mode off
  • The iPhone’s own screen recording off
  • VPN off
  • A Focus mode on, so notifications stay quiet
  • AirPlay → Automatically AirPlay set to Never

On your computer

  • Mac: built-in AirPlay Receiver off
  • Low Power Mode or Battery saver off
  • 5 GHz or 6 GHz Wi-Fi, or Ethernet
  • VPN off
Using a cable? An original or MFi-certified one, plugged straight into the computer, works best.

Using Kagami

Picture quality

Chosen when your device connects, so disconnect to change them.

Resolution
Screen Size (best) uses your device’s own resolution. 1920×1080 and 1280×720 are lighter on older computers or busy networks.
FPS
Device Max (best) uses your device’s highest refresh rate. 60, 30 or 25 save power and bandwidth.

Recording

Click Record, or press ⌘R on Mac.

Audio
Phone + your mic, phone only, mic only, or no sound.
Microphone
Your computer’s mic, or any USB mic or audio interface.
Mic volume
0 to 500%.
Test mic
Hear yourself live. Use headphones so your speakers don’t echo into the mic.
Mic as a separate file
Off: one video with game sound and your voice mixed. On: the video with game sound, plus a second file with only your voice, ready to edit.
Quality
Best quality, or smaller files.
Portrait recordings
Phone screen only, or inside a 16:9 frame with black bars.
File type
MP4 or MOV.
Save folder
Change or open it any time. Kagami shows the file size per minute before you start.
Recordings are saved every 2 seconds, so a crash or power cut keeps everything before it. If your disk is nearly full, Kagami tells you before you start.

Instant replay

Missed the moment? Save it after it happened.

  1. Turn it on in Settings → Recording. Kagami keeps the last 10 minutes ready.
  2. Press ⌃⌥S to save the length you picked: 15 or 30 seconds, or 1, 2 or 5 minutes.
  3. Or press ⌃⌥⇧S and type how far back to save, up to 10 minutes.
Both keys work even inside a full-screen game. Free saves the last minute, Zenn up to 10.

Mic clean-up

Noise removal (1×–5×)

Turn on Test mic to hear the result while you change settings.

Streaming with OBS

A full-quality picture in OBS, even when Kagami is hidden.

  1. In Kagami, open Settings → Streaming and turn on Share to OBS.
  2. In OBS, add a Syphon Client source (Mac) and choose Kagami.
  3. Pick full screen or 16:9.
Prefer Window Capture? Press ⌘K for a clean view with no buttons.

Privacy mode

One key, and nobody sees your screen.

Press ⌃⌥B to cover your screen with a “Privacy mode” card. Your stream, OBS, recordings and replays all see the card. Type a password or open a message, then press it again to come back.

Help

Common questions

Does Kagami put a watermark on my recordings?

No. On Free, a small mark shows only on the live window and in OBS. Your recording files are always clean.

Why did my recording stop at 2 minutes?

That is the Free limit. Zenn records with no limit.

The picture stutters. What can I do?

Turn off the iPhone’s own screen recording and Low Power Mode, use 5 GHz Wi-Fi or a cable, then click Fix next to the delay meter.

If the live window lags, is my recording affected?

No. Recordings are made from the stream itself, so they stay smooth and in sync even if the live view skips a frame.

Do I need to install anything on my iPhone?

No. Kagami uses Screen Mirroring, which is already on every iPhone and iPad.

Where is my mic file?

Next to the video, with the same name ending in “- Mic”.

Does it work with games like BGMI?

Yes. Game sound and your mic are both recorded.

Account, devices and refunds

Your plan lives in your Kagami account. Every plan works on 2 computers, one at a time: opening Kagami on one signs the other out. Swap a computer from your dashboard once every 30 days.

Zenn renews every 12 months; cancel any time. Founders 100 is non-refundable. See the refund policy.

Founders 100

A launch plan for the first 100 buyers: 18 months of Zenn, a founder number and a place on the Wall of Founders for life. Edit your entry and download your share card from the dashboard.

Creators and referrals

Creators earn on every first Zenn purchase through their link, plus free Zenn while they create. Apply here.

Everyone gets a referral link in the dashboard. When a friend buys through it, you both get 2 extra months.
